The filing
File one document, the Articles of Organization (Form 0073), with the Oklahoma Secretary of State. The fee is $100[2]. The filing has to name a registered agent in Oklahoma.
Mainstay Filing does the Oklahoma filing for $199 a year; the state's $100 is added at cost[1].

6 steps, in order
Only step three goes to the state. The others are preparation or follow-up, but each one is something Oklahoma LLC owners run into in the first year.
- Pick a name the state will accept. It has to be distinguishable from names already on the Oklahoma register and include an LLC designator. The Oklahoma Secretary of State has a name search on its website[3].
- Name a registered agent. Under 18 O.S. § 2010, the registered agent can be the LLC itself, an Oklahoma resident, or a corporation, LLC or partnership formed in Oklahoma or qualified there.[2] Owners who live in Oklahoma qualify as individuals and can take the registered agent role themselves.
- Submit Form 0073 and pay $100. The Oklahoma Secretary of State reviews the filing; the LLC exists once it is accepted[2].
- Write an operating agreement. It sets out ownership and how decisions are made. It stays with the company's records and is not part of the state filing.
- Apply for an employer identification number. The IRS issues it free; it is needed to open a business bank account or hire.
- Calendar the first Annual Certificate. It is filed every year with the Oklahoma Secretary of State, Business Filing Department for $25[4]. It is due anniversary date of the filing of the Articles of Organization, every year[5].
The form and where it goes
Oklahoma calls its formation filing the Articles of Organization, numbered 0073. The Oklahoma Secretary of State accepts it[2].
From the statute:
Prepare and file with the Secretary of State one (1) signed copy of the articles of organization. ... Pay to the Secretary of State a filing fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). (Title 18, Section 2055)
18 O.S. § 2004 (filing the articles of organization)[2].
Acceptance puts the company on the Oklahoma register. Anything listed on the filing, such as the registered agent's address, becomes part of the public record.
Oklahoma formation costs
Oklahoma's $100 filing fee is equal to the 50-state median of $100: 16 states charge less and 24 charge more.

How many new businesses Oklahoma sees
Oklahoma logged 56,855 business applications in 2025 by the Census Bureau's count, 13.79 for every 1,000 residents. From January through Sep 2026 there were 58,049, against 42,887 in the same months of 2025.
An application is a request for an EIN, not a state LLC filing. The Census series counts every legal form, so it measures start-up activity rather than Oklahoma LLC formations.
Having it filed for you, or filing yourself
With Mainstay Filing, the Oklahoma filing is prepared and submitted for you. Its price is $199 a year plus the state's $100[1], and that yearly price also covers the registered agent, the EIN application and every Annual Certificate.
Anyone can also file the Form 0073 directly with the Oklahoma Secretary of State; the state charges the same $100 either way.
